Timber-Based Doorsets Still the Best All Round Choice

According to Leaderflush Shapland, the UK’s largest performance doorset manufacturer, timber-based doorsets offer a number of significant benefits compared with alternative materials such as GRP.

When timber-core doors and doorsets are specified using raw materials approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) exclusively from well-managed and sustainable sources, they are not only renewable and fully recyclable; they also act as an excellent storage medium for carbon in the atmosphere.

Products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.

To counter any problems associated with organic cores, Leaderflush Shapland has developed a range of antimicrobial products incorporating the Hygienilac® biocidally pro-active additive, which kills most species of bacteria, including C.diff, MRSA, Salmonella and Listeria.

Included within this range is Hygieniform, the innovative high impact, antimicrobial, PVC facing option which forms part of the Plasform® range of doorsets. However, Hygieniform can also be specified for use on edge protectors, protection plates and as a facing option for flat faced lipped doors. For antimicrobial protection on all veneered doors and doorsets, Leaderflush Shapland incorporates, as standard, the Hygienilac® additive within the wood lacquer.

Leaderflush Shapland has spent many years developing timber-based products which meet the needs of particular markets, for example, the Plasform® range of postformed doorsets has been especially successful in environments where hygiene is of paramount importance such as the healthcare, education, pharmaceutical and food-processing sectors.
